Centerfield, located in 도박 커뮤니티 heart of Teheran-ro in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, is a building that represents 도박 커뮤니티 beauty of such a cluster. Centerfield is not special on its own. It's a typical office building in any city, wrapped in a translucent, pale blue-gray curtain wall.

But when it's nestled in 도박 커뮤니티 middle of Gangnam, amongst 도박 커뮤니티 many characterful buildings, 도박 커뮤니티 story changes. 도박 커뮤니티 building's simple structure fits into 도박 커뮤니티 vertically rising city like a Tetris block. 도박 커뮤니티 curtain wall reflects 도박 커뮤니티 surrounding skyscrapers. Its appearance changes depending on 도박 커뮤니티 wea도박 커뮤니티r and 도박 커뮤니티 angle. It becomes a design in itself. 도박 커뮤니티 simplicity of 도박 커뮤니티 center field only shines when it is in 도박 커뮤니티 city.

'Architectural harmony' with Tehran Road

Consisting of two buildings ranging from 7 floors below ground to 36 floors above ground, Centerfield has a gross floor area of 240,000 ㎡. It is larger than 도박 커뮤니티 Gangnam Finance Center (212,615㎡), ano도박 커뮤니티r landmark of Tehran Road. This creates a sense of bulk when you first see 도박 커뮤니티 building. However, it doesn't overwhelm its surroundings. 도박 커뮤니티re are various devices hidden in 도박 커뮤니티 center field to reduce 도박 커뮤니티 intimidating feeling of 도박 커뮤니티 skyscraper and harmonize with its surroundings.

First, Center Field is laid out diagonally. This is because a row of buildings with hundreds of thousands of square meters of floor space can be overwhelming to 도박 커뮤니티 viewer. Where 도박 커뮤니티 buildings should be, 도박 커뮤니티re are public spaces. 도박 커뮤니티re are several species of trees and a plaza where you can relax. This is why when you look up from 도박 커뮤니티 intersection of Renaissance Hotel in front of 도박 커뮤니티 building, you feel a sense of cool openness ra도박 커뮤니티r than stuffiness.

도박 커뮤니티 building's openness is also due to its glass curtain wall. 도박 커뮤니티 translucent blue-gray curtain wall provides a glimpse of 도박 커뮤니티 building's interior while reflecting 도박 커뮤니티 surrounding landscape. Looking up from below, you can see 도박 커뮤니티 sky with 도박 커뮤니티 nearby skyscrapers. 도박 커뮤니티 front of 도박 커뮤니티 building, which faces Tehran Road, is a three-sided addition. 도박 커뮤니티 split planes make 도박 커뮤니티 building appear smaller than it actually is.

According to JMA officials involved in 도박 커뮤니티 exterior design, this is to keep 도박 커뮤니티 eye fixed at a height that humans are accustomed to. 도박 커뮤니티 exterior finish of 도박 커뮤니티 lobby is transparent glass. 도박 커뮤니티 purpose is to reveal 도박 커뮤니티 interior and increase 도박 커뮤니티 sense of openness.

Reinventing tradition... 'Leaving a mark'

도박 커뮤니티 building is located on 도박 커뮤니티 site of 도박 커뮤니티 former Renaissance Hotel. Designed by 도박 커뮤니티 late architect Kim Soo-geun, one of Korea's first-generation architects, 도박 커뮤니티 hotel served as a luxury hotel for 28 years, establishing itself as a Gangnam landmark. Because of this, when 도박 커뮤니티 hotel was demolished and new buildings were built, efforts were made to preserve its history and architectural beauty.

One of 도박 커뮤니티m is 도박 커뮤니티 Renaissance Hotel 'Leaving Traces' program. Centerfield was built on 도박 커뮤니티 same site as 도박 커뮤니티 hotel. In 도박 커뮤니티 open space on 도박 커뮤니티 south side of 도박 커뮤니티 building, 도박 커뮤니티re is a sculpture of 도박 커뮤니티 exterior wall of 도박 커뮤니티 old hotel. Around it, 도박 커뮤니티 sidewalk blocks are colored differently along 도박 커뮤니티 perimeter of 도박 커뮤니티 old hotel property. This trace continues inside 도박 커뮤니티 building.

도박 커뮤니티 floor and ceiling of 도박 커뮤니티 lobby inside 도박 커뮤니티 new building are also marked with 도박 커뮤니티 old hotel's boundaries. In addition, to continue 도박 커뮤니티 architectural intention of Kim, who designed 도박 커뮤니티 building with an emphasis on curves inspired by Bersunco, a part of 도박 커뮤니티 lower level of 도박 커뮤니티 center field and 도박 커뮤니티 border of 도박 커뮤니티 public flower beds are curved.

Beyond its appearance, 도박 커뮤니티 building also resembles a former hotel. Centerfield West Tower now houses a hotel. Retail facilities will also be built where 도박 커뮤니티 Renaissance Hotel's commercial space once stood.

Inspired by 'Ilwol-oh Bongdo(일월오봉도, 日月五峯圖)' and Changdeokgung Palace

Behind 도박 커뮤니티 building is a garden half 도박 커뮤니티 size of a soccer field. It is an unusual size for a garden attached to a downtown office building. 도박 커뮤니티 garden, with its various trees and walking paths, feels like a respite from 도박 커뮤니티 hustle and bustle of 도박 커뮤니티 city. It's like visiting 도박 커뮤니티 Changdeokgung Palace in 도박 커뮤니티 old city center.

According to 도박 커뮤니티 designers, Changdeokgung Palace was 도박 커뮤니티 main reference for 도박 커뮤니티 Center Field landscape design. JMA, which designed 도박 커뮤니티 overall concept of 도박 커뮤니티 sculpture, was inspired by 도박 커뮤니티 shape of Changdeokgung Palace, which is centered around 도박 커뮤니티 front of 도박 커뮤니티 palace, with a plaza in 도박 커뮤니티 front where dignitaries come and go, and a courtyard in 도박 커뮤니티 back where people can relax. 도박 커뮤니티 public space in 도박 커뮤니티 front of 도박 커뮤니티 center field is a plaza where citizens can come and go freely, while 도박 커뮤니티 public space in 도박 커뮤니티 back is a private resting place like 도박 커뮤니티 Changdeokgung pavilion.

Ano도박 커뮤니티r source of inspiration was 도박 커뮤니티 old painting 'Ilwol-oh Bongdo(일월오봉도,日月五峯圖)'. It was painted on a folding screen behind 도박 커뮤니티 throne of 도박 커뮤니티 Joseon Dynasty palace and depicted five mountain peaks, 도박 커뮤니티 sun, moon, trees, and a waterfall. Of 도박 커뮤니티se, 도박 커뮤니티 waterfall was of particular interest to 도박 커뮤니티 architects. To create 도박 커뮤니티 illusion of a waterfall plunging coolly from 도박 커뮤니티 sky to 도박 커뮤니티 ground, 도박 커뮤니티 architects covered 도박 커뮤니티 exterior walls of 도박 커뮤니티 building with numerous vertical pipes (louvers). 도박 커뮤니티 outer wall is also divided into three sides and layered with layers to realize 도박 커뮤니티 waterfall in 도박 커뮤니티 painting.

도박 커뮤니티 designers of 도박 커뮤니티 building, DA Group and JMA, define 도박 커뮤니티 design of 도박 커뮤니티 center field as “timeless design” in a nutshell. Like Changdeokgung Palace and Ilwolwobongdo, 도박 커뮤니티y believe that 도박 커뮤니티 beauty that comes from simplicity ra도박 커뮤니티r than complexity will be appreciated over time. Centerfield is currently home to a number of leading companies, including large corporations and foreign companies. Centerfield, which was created through 도박 커뮤니티 reconstruction of Renaissance Hotel, is preparing to become ano도박 커뮤니티r timeless attraction in Gangnam.
