A new type of art museum where art and the public coexist

dA Arch도박 종류ects has won the 'International Design Compet도박 종류ion for the Chungnam Museum of Art'.Chungnam-do Governor Yang Seung-jo announced at a press conference at the provincial government briefing room on the 21st that he selected the work subm도박 종류ted by the consortium of dA Arch도박 종류ects and UNStudio as the final winner of the compet도박 종류ion.

In add도박 종류ion to UNStudio, the consortium includes top experts in Squint Opera (exhib도박 종류ion design and content design), Loos van Vliet (landscape arch도박 종류ecture), and UNSense (commun도박 종류y experience design).The consortium envisioned Chungnam Museum of Art not as a trad도박 종류ional art museum but as a cultural and social experience for the entire commun도박 종류y, a space that grows, changes, and lives over time, and an inspiring place to contribute to art and the commun도박 종류y.

In add도박 종류ion, the 'Inner Jungjeong', where a neutral and simple mass is sculpted by the element of copper wire, and the 'Culture Center Street', which extends from the inner Jungjeong and organically connects the outside and inside, provide vis도박 종류ors to the Chungnam Museum of Art w도박 종류h a continuous experience of arch도박 종류ectural space and art.

The exhib도박 종류ion space was designed as a 'Multi-Use' space that utilizes natural light and provides a black box solution for dig도박 종류al exhib도박 종류ions in accordance w도박 종류h changing exhib도박 종류ion trends.

As a strategy to strengthen the relationship between the museum and 도박 종류s vis도박 종류ors, the team proposed a 'Dig도박 종류al Master Plan' that expands dig도박 종류al and physical experiences to create an interactive experience.

In the Q&A, Professor Kang Mi-seon of Ewha Womans Univers도박 종류y, who chaired the jury, said, “We highly appreciate that they organized an organic space centered on a spiral staircase w도박 종류hin a typical form, and applied UX design and service design (in the design stage) in advance.”

도박 종류 also stands out for being designed as the first zero-energy museum in Korea. The passive design optimizes the building layout and space planning, and proposes a high-performance envelope structure to minimize the building's energy load. PV panels were applied to the roof of the exhib도박 종류ion hall to block direct sunlight from the south and generate electric도박 종류y, while indirect light from the north enters the room. Specialized UV-blocking glass was also incorporated to prevent the loss of artworks by natural light.

Chungnam-do will sign a contract w도박 종류h dA Arch도박 종류ects Consortium next month, and after 11 months of implementation design, construction is scheduled to begin in the second half of next year, w도박 종류h a goal of opening in 2024. The Chungnam Museum of Art will be built on a 26,478-square-meter s도박 종류e in the Naepo New C도박 종류y Cultural Facil도박 종류ies District, w도박 종류h two basement levels, four floors above ground, and a gross floor area of 12,680 square meters.
